DUAL SIM IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Tough Mobile Phone

Towards the end of 2016 Australian Carriers such as Telstra and Optus will be decommissioning their 2G Networks. This will affect the way all dual SIM mobile phones work. A summary of this for each model is outlined as follows:

RG730

The RugGear RG730 has two SIM Card slots and both capable of being connected to the 4G/3G networks, and therefore when the 2G network is turned off later in 2016, BOTH SIM slots will still function and be able to connect to their respective networks. However, they will not be able to connect to 3G/4G simultaneously.

How will the RG730 Dual SIM functionality behave when the 2G network is switched off?

Both SIM slots will still enable 4G/3G connectivity and be able to make/receive calls and data, but not simultaneously.

When one SIM slot is connected to the 4G/3G network, the other SIM card will be inactive. Any calls received on the inactive slot will go to voice mail. SMS received will wait until the inactive slot is activated.

To make/receive calls, data, voicemail from the inactive SIM, simply enter the SIM Settings and switch the primary SIM over to the other SIM. It will then connect enabling you to make/receive calls and voicemail, SMS etc. This will of course make the first SIM inactive until you reactivate it again.

RG310

RG220/500

The RugGear RG220 and RG500 have two SIM Card slots. Slot 1 is 3G and Slot 2 is 2G. Therefore when the 2G network is turned off later this year, SIM slot 2 will no longer connect to Australian carrier networks. It will continue to work overseas where carriers provide coverage on the 2G GSM network.
